Happy as a Lark?

I am in thought mode for the moment and thought I would ask the question have you heard the phrase "happy as a lark?" Think about that for a moment. Honestly, what does that really mean? And what is a lark anyway? Maybe I should go look it up on www.dictionary.com which this blonde girl my daughter uses sometimes. Actually the truth is I don't have time at the moment to look it up because I am buried in paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. I just thought I would you search down deep in your brain for a moment to see if you could define what it meant. If you are so inclined to share with the rest of the world what "happy is a lark" means, please feel free to comment and tell me what it is. You know I once heard the phrase that a woman was "happy as a lark" and guess where it was? It was in the divorce class that parents have to attend. Yes, the woman was happy as a lark to be getting a divorce. I thought it was rather funny then. I have caught myself lately using the same expression lately and told others that I am happy as a lark. I guess I've heard it so many times, it just entered my daily language. But when I stopped to think about it, I realized I didn't even know what a "lark" was. Now my thought on the matter is that it means someone who is happy, go lucky and skips through life with a smile on their face each day. Now this would describe me on most given days. Don't get me wrong; there are some days I am not "happy as a lark" but rather "sappy as a shark." Ok, so that just made absolutely no sense but it sounded good anyways! So are you happy as a lark? I hope you are happy, and not just happy, but I hope you are happy as a lark. Now have a good day and go comment on what this phrase means!
